After a career at Procter & Gamble, Chris de Lapuente joined the LVMH group in 2011 as CEO of selective perfume retailer Sephora, a position he held until 2020. In 2015, he was also appointed CEO of LVMH’s perfumes and cosmetics division.

Since 2020, he has been at the helm of LVMH’s selective retailing division, which includes Sephora, Le Bon Marché and airport shopping arcades (DFS). In the first half of 2024, this division recorded sales of €8.6 billion and growth of 3%.

The driving force behind this division is the selective perfume chain Sephora, which has a presence in 34 countries via 3,000 shops. According to industry experts, Sephora achieved sales of €12 billion by 2022, and is aiming for €20 billion, without giving a deadline. In China, however, where it is experiencing a slowdown, the company recently announced that it would be cutting jobs.
